Dear Diary Ingleside:
6/17/10 – MM started the .mxd for Ingleside by copying and pasting the Caldwell.mxd and taking most of the stuff out. MM brought in the polyline layer and cleaned it up. MM ran the topology and cleaned it up. Once MM did that, MM created the Ingleside_polylines_061710 shapefile, and then used ArcToolbox to convert to Ingleside_polylgons_061710 shapefile. MM also brought in SS and Fuemmeller’s points.
6/18/10 – MM spliced SS’s and Fuemmeller points into several shapefiles. I arranged all the symbolization and got the dip numbers labeled.
6/19/10 – Car stalled on the way to work. Went to AAA and got a ride back to here. Once MM got started, MM tried to move some symbols and MM got this error message…
MM tried to fix the problem in a variety of ways, but MM had to go back to SS’s original file and start the whole process again, but this time MM saved them as shapefiles, not feature classes. From there, it worked. MM began to move the symbols and dip numbers. A lot more dense than MM was hoping.
6/21/10 – MM finished moving the symbols and dip numbers. MM put the rock unit explanations in the layout.
6/22/10 – Swimming in minutiae. MM made assorted corrections and adjustments to the layout and the map. MM brought in SS’s traverses.
6/23/10 – MM scanned the Ingleside cross section as a tif and brought it into the .mxd.
6/24/10 – MM digitized all the contacts, then used ArcToolbox to convert all lines into polygons. MM added labels and put this all into the layout. MM did other assorted stuff as necessary.
6/25/10 – MM widened the layout to include SS’s terrane stuff. MM widened the text to fit the wider layout. MM did other assorted movements of stuff to get the layout ready and then MM printed a copy of the layout.
2/6/15 – MM, as part of the Franklin County Geologic map, needed to consolidate all the structural symbol feature classes into one. After making an excel spreadsheet (which helped a lot) showing which columns were necessary, MM structured six of the eight feature classes in preparation for merging them all next week. The next feature class is Ingleside_Stoddard_planar_multiples_061910.
2/9/15 – MM finished the last two feature classes and then copied and pasted the nine shapefiles together and made an Ingleside_OrientationPoints feature class. MM brought this feature class into the FranklinCounty Geologic map .mxd.
9/5/15 (Saturday) – MM had to re-rotate all the structural symbols. MM revised the external polygon labels on the quadrangle and cross section after the Franklin County geologic map changed some of the polygon names. MM also changed the colored rock boxes to reflect the new polygon names. MM also used part of the map as an inset map for Franklin County.
12/31/15 - MM uploaded latest version of Ingleside map to Google Drive:
