Inez

Dear Diary – Inez
5/28/13 – I scanned the paper map for Inez.  I then georegistered it and asked Phil for info about how to do the map, as far as the symbols were concerned.  He told me to stop work on the symbols for now and await a spreadsheet with coordinates.  I responded that I could start digitizing the linework, so I did.
5/29/13 – I continued to digitize the linework.  After completing it, I used the linework to create a polygon feature class.  I symbolized those polygons.
7/10/13 – I downloaded files from Phil to the Inez_PRODUCTION folder.  They include the Data Dictionary, an Introduction text and some jpegs for the layout.  He said this should complete all the pieces that I need to make the map.  (We’ll see.)  I then later got the line for the cross section.  The cross section will come later.
7/11/13 – The polygon layer disappeared, so I re-did it and symbolized the polygons.  I downloaded the cross section line and incorporated it with the polylines, and then symbolized the lines.  I downloaded the points layer and started symbolized them.  Phil had to send me a more detailed data dictionary.  Started putting in SM_CODE, but ran into problems with duplicate station entries.
7/12/13 – As I await further instructions on the points, I started to work on the layout.  Phil later sent me a new version of the points shapefile.  I brought it in and started to work with it.  I put in SM_CODE and noticed a couple of discrepancies.  I emailed Robbie and he got me the data that I needed.  I symbolized all the OrientationPoints and saved the .lyr.  I brought in the all of the text and got most of it placed.  I later got an update version of the points and put it in the Map View.
7/15, 7/17/13 – I arranged the squashed spiders so that they are visible and readable.  I also created an ExcessStations feature class to put all the symbols that couldn’t fit on the map.  Once I arranged all the symbols, I turned the dip numbers text on and saved this layer as an annotation feature class.  Then I started rearranging the dip numbers around the symbols.
7/18/13 – I completed placing the dip numbers around the symbols.
7/19/13 – I coded the polygons with the correct colors, except for two.  I arranged the polygon boxes in the layout and brought in the structural symbols in the layout, as well.
7/22/13 – I continued adjusting the rock unit descriptions and the structural symbols in the layout.  I sent Phil a PDF for his suggestions.
7/23/13 – I received an email from Phil with his edits and changes and I finished all but a few.  I responded with some questions of my own with a couple of the polygons.  We went back and forth with a couple of things and got all the polygons resolved.  I also symbolized the S1 symbols and I’ll just wait for the cross section in the mail tomorrow.
7/25/13 – I received the cross section in the mail.  I scanned it and rectified it and put it in the PRODUCTION folder.  Digitized the outer box of cross section.
7/26/13 – I digitized the rest of the cross section, changed the lines to polygons, coded them, and put in all of the text.  After finishing up with the cross section, I printed out the map.  I made my corrections and saved it.  I saved the layout as a pdf and emailed it to Phil.
1/7/16 - MM uploaded latest version of Inez map to Google Drive:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BxSMuI20Ka_kMWJQaUZ5LTRBS1E

5/2/16 - MM saved Inez_052813 as Inez_PRODUCTION in preparation for STATEMAP 2016 deliverable.

5/25/16 - MM loaded NWIZ_2016_5_24_2016 (Dave Blake's NW Inez points shapefile) into Inez_PRODUCTION.mxd.  MM saved a copy as Inez_ObservationPoints_DB feature class.  MM created a SM_CODE column and populated it with either a 1 or 2.  MM then symbolized the points using the Data Dictionary and then created an annotation layer for the dip numbers.

5/27/16 - MM began to pull apart the "squashed spiders" and move the dip text numbers around the symbols.

5/31/16 - MM loaded Skip's east Inez symbols (NEIZ.shp) into the .mxd.  MM created Inez_ObservationPoints_DB_SS from Inez_ObservationPoints_DB and loaded Inez_ObservationPoints_SS into it.  MM then created an annotation file for the feature class and began moving the symbols and dip numbers around.  PB took a copy of the geodatabase for a separate pdf of the quad for DB and SS, in order to help them draw contact lines.

6/1/16 - 6/2/16 - MM completed moving symbols and dip numbers around for Inez_ObservationPoints_DB_SS.  MM needs to fix new paradigm where lineation now comes out of center of symbol.

6/3/16 - MM adapted the new paradigm to entire quad.  MM saved a new hydro layer from GeoPDF and will try for the rest of the quad on 6/5.

6/5/16 (Sunday) - MM saved a GeoPDF layer for the quad and added it to the .mxd.  MM added "Geologist" column and placed either "Blake" or "Stoddard" in the column.

6/13/16 - MM, per PB email, placed most up-to-date stereonets in LatestStereonets folder in Inez_PRODUCTION.

6/15/16 - MM, per PB email, placed new rock unit descriptions in layout.  MM raised roof two inches.  MM worked on Correlation Diagram.  MM added text box in lower right of layout.

6/16/16 - MM completed all but rock boxes in Correlation Diagram and added it to upper left of layout.  MM updated info in text box in lower right of layout. MM changed MAJOR1 entries for five of ES points from Cataclasite to Bull Quartz (veins).  MM also used MAJOR1 to pull out diabase from SL points and symbolize them as red dots.  MM adjusted Qal layers for southern Qal polygons.  MM split inferred lines into concealed lines for contacts through Qal polygons.  MM added E_Inez_db_lines.shp from ES email.  MM turned it into feature class and added it to the .mxd.

6/17/16 - MM, per PB's request, brought the 2016 contacts, polygons, other lines, CSA contacts and CSA polygons into the .mxd.  MM also brought in latest stereoscopes to the layout.

6/22/16 - MM was out 6/20 and 6/21.  PB redid Correlation Diagram and MM recorrected some of PB's errors in order to make it good.  MM added "Add_Station_location" point to Inez_OrientationPoints_DB_SS and changed this and other points with Cataclasite in MAJOR1 to Bull quartz (vein).  Then these points were symbolized as Triangle 2 Solar Yellow 12.

6/23/16 - MM added ES and DB symbols to layout and blended them with previously placed symbols.  MM then properly placed the symbols in layout.  MM also did the same with contact lines.  MM changed folds to magenta. MM added labels to diabase contacts and Qal polygons.
MM printed map for review by PB.

6/26/16 (Sunday) - MM fixed Qal in CSA and made other changes per PB's edits.  MM printed map for review.

6/27/16 - MM corrected edits on map.  MM will sweep quad tomorrow to uncover dip numbers.  Otherwise, everything else is good.

6/28/16 - MM spliced SM_CODEs 3,5 and 6 from ObservationPoints_DB_SS and created a OtherPoints feature class to go below that feature class in order to improve the visibility of the structural symbols.  MM also swept the map and made the dip numbers more visible.  MM made three additional concealed contacts.  MM adjusted the terrane text in layout and increased the size of the stereonets.  MM then printed map for KBT review.

6/29/16 - KBT approved map and we're DONE!  OFR 2016-12.

12/15/17 - MM has neglected to make additions to this post about changes that were made recently.  MM printed a pdf of map on 11/28/17 and gave to PB for edits.  PB gave back map and MM will make changes.  MM also had to redo the Correlation Diagram.  It had reverted to a previous version, somehow, but it was restored to the 11/28/17 version.

12/18/17 - MM made 6 changes to northern part of map, per PB's email.

12/19/17 - MM saved pdf for PB.  Awaiting results.
