Oxford

Dear Diary – Oxford
9/26/16 - KBT reviewed map, MM made corrections and we're DONE!  OFR 2016-19.

8/9/16 - MM took out CZvgr polygon in lower left corner of quad, per PB.  MM printed copy for KBT's first review.

7/27/16 - MM printed map for KBT review.

7/26/16 - MM added Slickenlines_faults_Stereonet to layout.  MM spaced the stereonets so that six will fit on the left side of layout.

7/22/16 - MM printed out map for KBT review.

7/14/16 - MM made minor changes, which included adding Jenny's name to upper left corner of layout and adding the NC logo to the lower left corner of layout.  MM rearranged STATEMAP research support listing on layout and eliminated box of information.   MM printed map for PB and KBT review.

5/11/16 - MM made corrections to the map, per PB's edits.  MM added the latest Geochem table, and moved things around on the layout, so that a box with NCGS information could be added.  MM printed a copy of the map.

5/9/16 - MM, with PB's help, made additional changes to text.  MM also increased size of new geochem table and shrunk the quad and geologist index diagrams.  MM printed a copy of the map.

5/4/16 - MM, per PB's email, replaced the geochem table.  MM also made eight corrections from Phils_notes_Oxford_Map_Mark-up.pdf.

5/3/16 - MM, per PB's email, replaced all five stereonets with better stereonets with thicker grids.

4/21/16 - MM made corrections to map, including added labels to quad, adding people to list of "Digital representation by", and widening the Qal unit on CSB.  MM will ask PB for better stereonets and answers to Rick 1-4 questions and Phil 1-10 questions.

4/20/16 -  MM adjusted the rock boxes and the rock unit descriptions in the layout so that they now match up with each other.  MM got rid of the "cheat" (shear overlay) and made the shear polygons inclusive with the shear rock polygons.  MM also changed shear contacts over the Qal into concealed contacts.  MM also made the changes in Map mark-up 4, per RW.  MM printed the map.  MM marked changes needed to made on map.

4/19/16 - MM and PB made methodical changes to map, per RM's Oxford_Map_Mark-up.pdf.  MM changed some colored polygons and some rock units to match the current understanding of the geology.  MM added Parnell 2006 to the References section in the layout.  MM added the CZgcf rock unit description to the layout.

4/18/16 - MM made additional changes, per Oxford Review Installment 2_rwm.doc.  MM added adjoining quads index and changed two things in symbols descriptions.  MM added geochem table and broke off the underlying text and put it to the left side of the table in the layout.  MM also shrunk the rose diagrams in order to fit the geochem table with descriptions.

4/15/16 - MM continued edits, but needed additional information from RW and PB.

4/14/16 - MM started to correct edits per RW email from 3/31/16.  This included adding CZcbgf rock unit description in layout.

3/21/16 - MM, per PB request, created a dedicated feature class, "OrientationPoints_Geochem_Oxford", which contained both RW and DB geochem points.  MM also put place holder for geochem table in layout, from PB email.  PB also verified details of a few polygons to make uniform along Oxford/Henderson line.

3/18/16 - MM, per RW email, narrowed the Qal around station #1  and moved location of station 1 to the correct location.  MM also added a geochemical station at that location.  MM, per RW and PB email, replaced Joints Rose diagram and replaced the text.  MM changed colors of polygons for CZvgr and CZvgf to match Henderson.

3/17/16 - MM placed geochem points on quad.  MM has questions about a couple of locations and will email RW for his points and talk with PB for DB's points.

3/11/16 - MM made the rest of the changes and printed out the map.  MM made notes for PB and made some minor changes.  MM also brought in Henderson, Kittrell and Wilton polygons to see edgematching.

3/10/16 - MM, after consultation with PB, changed the fault contacts to special shear contacts, like in 2006 version of Oxford.  MM also changed shear polygon fill to more closely match FGDC standards.  MM then checked to make sure shear polygon fills were in CSA and CSB.  MM then began to symbolize fault lines and/or change them to shear contacts.

3/9/16 - MM received changes to map from KBT.  MM made corrections to changes that did not involve the location of faults on quad.  MM will discuss with PB tomorrow what to do about those.

3/4/16 - MM got answers from RM and made the changes.  MM printed out the map for review.

3/2/16 - MM emailed RM for clarification on four different points and their lineations.

3/1/16 - MM consulted with PB on other changes to Oxford.  PB gave his answers and MM edited the map accordingly.  MM modified the shear polygon in the quad just a little bit and introduced the shear polygons to CSA and CSB.  MM will email RW tomorrow on a couple of his points.

2/29/16 - MM made notes on quad sheet and made corrections on what he could correct.  Other questions will be asked of PB.

2/26/16 - MM finished second and third sweep of quad (third one with everything turned on).  MM added horizontal joint to symbols in layout.  MM added special notes for symbols in layout.  MM modified symbol for axial plane.  MM then printed out quad.

2/25/16 - MM started sweeping in a reverse direction to double-check that all points were represented.  MM also verified location of Station 102 with RW, and found out that DB Station 4026 and RM Station 216 are probably the same measurement.  RW suggested to drop his station and keep DB's station.

2/24/16 - MM finally got through the sweep of Oxford and now will sweep tomorrow to make sure the symbols go well with the existing data.

2/23/16 - MM placed the stereonets, along with their text, in the layout.  MM also replaced "fracture cleavage" with "spaced cleavage", per PB's request. MM improved and adjusted the symbols in the layout.  MM also continued to adjust the symbols on the quad sheet.

2/22/16 - More slogging.

2/19/16 - MM continued slogging through Oxford, changing symbol locations or values as needed.  MM, per PB's request, took out the four stereonets and put five new stereonets next to the layout.  On Monday, MM will place these stereonets in the layout.

2/18/16 - MM continued his sweep of the quadrangle looking to move points, add points or correct points.

2/17/16 - Change of plans.  MM combined all three Wooten symbol types into one combined file:  OrientationPoints_Wooten_Oxford.  MM thought this would make moving the symbols back to their original (intended) locations easier, if they were all in the same feature class.  MM then began a sweep to put symbols in their correct locations, put dip numbers to the new joint symbols and overall, just clean up the quad.

2/12/16 - MM and PB used Oxford_Rick_Joint_Data_To_Add.xlsx to add joint data that was not in previous versions of the map.  MM and PB had to modify this data in the ID/STATION column to make sure all the stations matched up with those in Planar_Wooten_2016_Oxford.  Once they were matched up, the two files were joined and a new file was created:  Planar_Wooten_2016_Oxford_Joined.  MM will begin to spread the squashed spiders in the newly created file.

2/3/16 - MM transferred data from T drive after RM placed
T:\NCGS_Transfer\Oxford_2015\Oxford_SE_rmw_revised_data_MM_PB on the drive.

2/2/16 - MM corrected more edits.  MM added declination arrow.  Will wait for PB contributions.

2/1/16 - MM verified that the colors on the quad, descriptions, CSA and CSB all match.  MM did a sweep of the quad and made necessary corrections.  MM printed map.

1/29/16 - MM continued corrections of quad; such as fault arrows in CSB, external labels for polygons.

1/28/16 -  MM created quad index, saved it as a cropped .tif and placed it in the layout.  MM placed colored boxes next to the rock unit descriptions.  MM noticed that CZpyba and CZgs were in the descriptions, but not on the map.  MM noticed that CZabf, CZdqf, CZgbdif, CZgrf and CZtcf were on the maps, but not in the descriptions.  MM put contact lines into layout legend.  MM printed out map and made corrections on the map.  MM began to edit the corrections.

1/4/16 - MM updated the latest version of Oxford map to Google Drive:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BxSMuI20Ka_kSzVpWXlra2ZPd3c

12/16/15 – MM modified the borderlines in CSB to match up with CSA.

11/5/15 – MM symbolized the polylines and polygons.  MM standardized the text sizes between CSA and CSB.  Currently using Oxford_PRODUCTION_2015 from Oxford_PRODUCTION folder.

11/4/15 – MM, with PB’s help, adjusted CSA to make it more like the quad sheet contacts.  Also, used 2006 topographic profile of CSA as new version of CSA.  Previous version took profile from 500 feet to 100 feet, which is incorrect.  MM ran topology on the modified CSA polylines before creating the polygons.  MM symbolized the polygons.

11/3/15 – MM standardized the size of the cross section labels.  MM made the colored rock boxes for layout, but is awaiting placement of other details in layout, before putting rock boxes next to descriptions.

11/2/15 – MM completed the CSB.  MM adjusted the CSA to match CSB with depth standards.

10/30/15 – MM digitized all the polylines and then used ArcToolbox to draw polygons.  Then MM began labelling polygons.  MM ran into problems auto drawing the polygons.  Apparently, there are gaps in the polylines.  MM will ran topology on the polygons and on Monday, MM will label the polygons and other map details.

10/29/15 – MM cut and pasted lower cross section from Oxford 2006 pdf and brought it into the Oxford_PRODUCTION_2015 geodatabase.  MM began digitizing the CSB cross section tif.

10/28/15 – MM changed top cross section to A-A’.  MM put corner coordinates on quad after PB decided against 2010 map as backdrop.  MM will bring in CSB from 2006 Oxford on either Thursday or Friday.

10/27/15 – MM put the B cross section into a new MapView in the geodatabase.  Per PB’s email, MM will draw this cross section and add it to the layout.

10/26/15 – MM put underlying top on the .mxd, after having to re-register Global Mapper 13 and figure out where the topo was.

10/14/15 – MM placed assorted necessary parts of the layout, copied from another quad.  MM started the process of creating an underlying topo map.  MODIFIED2

10/13/15 – MM is starting this, already in progress.  MM digitized cross section A (CSA) today.  MM added labels to the polygons and the depths of the CSA.  MM then saved the quad as a tif and used it to compare whether the CSA contacts are correct.  MM drew lines to show where the contacts should be, and there were a few adjustments needed.  MM needs to ask PB how to draw new contacts in CSA.  MM put in corner coordinates.
