Colon - Dear Diary
9/2/20 - MM began Colon GeMS Level 2 work. After creating a new project (Colon_Pro) and bringing in the Colon data (by way of either Drive or SharePoint), MM started populating the attribute tables. At this point, MM noticed that OtherLines_Colon_Combined needed to be added and OtherLines_Colon needed to be removed, because the concealed lines were not in this feature class. Once that was taken care of, the attribute table for GeologicLines for Colon has been begun and completed. Saved today's work on Drive - Mike_Colon_090220.
8/19/20 - MM attached 1 TB external drive to laptop and this will be new main center of data.
8/13/20 - MM reviewed topology, then placed the Colon_GeMS_DISTRIBUTABLE.gdb in GoogleDrive. This data was brought into ArcPro, in order to verify it works for home work on this data.
6/24/20 - MM converted inferred contacts to concealed when in contact with the updated OverlayPolygons feature class. MM also made more edits per PB email on 6/22/20. MM saved map as pdf and sent to PB and AR for (hopefully) final review. MM made his final review and edits; will await PB and his changes tomorrow.
6/23/20 - PB sent over the OverlayPolylines_Colon_Goldston_DG_PB_combinedV2 and OverlayPolygons_Colon_Goldston_DG_PB_combinedV2, which are new and complete version for the quad. MM put in the external labels in the annotation file.
6/22/20 - MM started and finished corrections made by PB to the map. This included realigning the quarry, mine or prospect section to go under the symbols in the Explanation of Map Symbols section. MM printed map out for PB to look over. MM made a few corrections and is now awaiting Qal polylines from DG.
6/18/20 - MM increased the size of the Correlation Diagram in the layout to more closely size the rock unit blocks with the blocks next to the rock unit description.
6/17/20 - MM corrected his edits (lots of minutiae). MM placed dots for diabase. MM placed dots and labels for diamond drill holes. MM placed labels for mines. MM listed all these in the layout. MM saved as pdf and emailed to PB and AR.
6/16/20 - MM added Index to Geologists in layout. MM broke up contact lines into concealed contacts, as needed. MM added additional points and lines to layout symbols. MM printed out copy and wrote needed corrections on it. MM will complete changes tomorrow and send out pdf to PB, AR.
6/15/20 - MM added 4 color stereonet diagrams to layout from AR email. MM created Traverse Data Frame and clipped Traverse Colon_Goldston to the Colon QuadBox. MM then added LiDAR to the Data Frame. MM brought in the Colon_2020_Addendum.gdb to the Colon_DISTRIBUTABLE folder. MM brought OtherLines, OtherPoints, OverlayPolylines, OverlayPolygons, UndergroundWorkings, Ups_and_Downs and IndexOfWorkers from the Colon_2020_Addendum feature dataset into the .mxd.
6/12/20 - MM changed 627.02 to joint, instead of Triassic bedding, from PB email. MM initially had difficulty editing the attribute table, but when made a duplicate of the feature class and tried to edit the duplicate, the problem went away in the original feature class.
6/5 - 6/6/20 - MM used the CAF to create MapUnitPolys. MM used feature classes in Colon_GeMS_DISTRIBUTABLE.gdb to create CSA. CrossSectionAA feature dataset was used for feature classes. MM added the rock unit text descriptions and added the colored rock boxes next to the text. MM created the correlation diagram from PB's PowerPoint and brought it to the layout. MM added lat/long coordinates in four corners of the map. MM added the references text. MM created and fixed the placement of the CAF and orientation point symbols in the layout. MM created pdf of the map and emailed it to PB for comments.
6/4/20 - MM finished arranging the dip numbers around the stations. MM then snapped the lines to the borders of the quad in preparation for polygons. MM will need to make sure the OtherLines and ContactsAndFaults have the right lines in them.
6/3/20 - MM finished moving the symbols around the stations, and then created the dip numbers. MM then started to arrange dip numbers around the stations.
6/2/20 - MM brought in feature classes from Colon_Master geodatabase, courtesy of PB. MM added a couple of columns (Symbol, SM_CODE), populated them and started organizing the symbols.
6/1/20 - MM saved old .mxd as new Colon_GeMS_2020_DISTRIBUTABLE.mxd. MM took out all old feature classes.
3/17/20 - MM externally labelled polygons and some Jd lines. MM thinned the herd and made the Colon geodatabase lean and tight.
3/5 - 3/6/20 - MM trying to create a GeMS geodatabase for this quad, to be used in conjunction with the STATEMAP deliverable. MM has saved all the feature classes from Reinemund into the GeMS feature classes. MM still needs to work on thinning the herd and making this quad a nice package like Goldston. MM also needs to create labels for both sets of polygons, not just for this quad, but for Goldston as well. MM arranged the dip numbers around the symbols, and will need to do this for Goldston as well.
12/18/19 - MM added external labels to OverlayPolys and MapUnitPolys. MM added dip numbers to a couple of symbols that had no dip numbers.
12/16/19 - MM changed shapefiles to feature classes. MM started and completed dip numbers around symbols.
12/11-13/19 - MM used the attributes to standardize the values for OtherPoints, OverlayLines, OtherLines, ContactsAndFaults, OverlayPolys and MapUnitPolys.
12/9/19 - MM created new geodatabase for this map. MM started with bringing in Colon_cropped.tif. MM solidified the contour lines. MM brought in the feature classes from Reinemund map. MM then used the Colon_QuadBox to clip these feature classes to Colon.
