3/5/21 - MM created a new geodatabase (BearCreekQuadrangle_OFR_2019-06), per PB wishes. MM first created a new folder BearCreekQuadrangle_OFR_2019-06 and copied the ChathamGeMS_Level2_2021.gdb into it. MM then renamed the .gdb in the Catalog window to make it BearCreekQuadrangle_OFR_2019-06.gdb. MM then made sure that the six feature classes were now linked to the Bear Creek .gdb, not the Chatham .gdb. Once confirmed, MM made sure that the Chatham metadata had come over with the 6 BearCreek feature classes. MM then used the Clip tool to clip the 6 feature classes to the Bear Creek quad box. MM used the Split (preserve both areas) function in the Clip tool to clip the MapUnitPolys feature class to Bear Creek. MM manually deleted any straggling polgons outside of BearCreek. MM then proceeded to clip the remaining feature classes to Bear Creek, by using the Select by Addresses tool and using different methods to clip to the MapUnitPolys feature class. It is easier to clip to polygon feature classes. Once all entries outside Bear Creek had been eliminated, MM ran Validate Database.
2/2/21 - After informing MM that this new geodatabase did not meet the GeMS standard, MM redid the geodatabase (BearCreek_GeMS_Level1_V2.gdb) by bringing in a blank geodatabase from PB and loading the previous feature class data into the V2 feature classes. MM also loaded data from 3 non-spatial databases into the new V2 geodatabase (ex. glossary). MM then tried to validate the database using a GeMS ArcPro tool, but it failed three times. PB suggested doing it at Archdale on 1/8.
1/29/21 - MM clipped Bear Creek data from Chatham16 database into a new geodatabase (BearCreek_GeMS_Level1.gdb).
7/8/19 - Per PB request, reversed 4 fold lines in SE part of map to overturned anticline, questionable. Then saved pdf to T drive, NCGS Transfer, 2019 Statemap folder.
6/25-6/26/19 - MM worked with PB to finish the map. MM found two "lost" fault segments and added them. PB manipulated a fold in the NW quadrant of map. MM made other final edits from KT and printed out the map and saved a pdf to the T drive 2019_Statemap_Deliverables folder. WE'RE DONE!!!
6/24/19 - MM received map with edits from PB and corrected the changes. MM printed the map and it was given to KT for final corrections.
6/20/19 - MM made corrections to Correlation Diagram and made some final small edits, before printing the map out. MM edited the map, listed some corrections that need to be done and then dropped off the map at CPO to AR.
6/19/19 - It took most of the day, but MM put all the dip numbers next to the symbols for the south side. MM then double-checked the symbols for the folds. MM also made a few edits to the layout in the symbols section, per AR's notes.
6/18/19 - MM noticed that all ObservationPoints on south side, no longer had dip numbers next to it. MM could not figure out why, but then began to arrange the dip numbers around the symbols again.
6/17/19 - MM received corrections made by AR (Aaron Rice) and proceeded to fix the issues. All but a few things needed to be fixed.
6/13/19 - MM labelled rock polygons and added Phil's new line.
6/12/19 - MM finished moving the dip numbers around the observation points. MM changed inferred contacts going through Qal polygons into concealed contacts.
6/7/19 - MM added and replaced three stereoscopes (and their text) in the layout. MM added and replaced the rock unit description text in the layout. MM increased the height of the layout to 39 inches.
6/6/19 - MM began to move the dip numbers around the OrientationPoints symbols.
6/5/19 - MM begins the process of completing the southern half of the quadrangle. MM brought in 2019 feature classes that were provided by PB on the T drive. MM took out 2018 versions of feature classes and added _2019 to the new feature classes.
6/27/18 - MM, along with PB, made final changes to verify map was correct, printed map one more time and saved as pdf. Assigned OFR 2018-08. WE'RE DONE!!!
6/26/18 - MM pasted new circular logo into layout. MM made final printout and awaits approval for map. PB is researching best way to create GeoPDF.
6/25/18 - MM added new Statemap text, per PB request.
6/20/18 - MM made minor changes to Correlation Diagram, made minor changes to CSA, made minor changes to symbols explanation of layout, including sizes of mines and prospect symbols. MM also changed rock unit label from Zhel to Zhe* on map. MM also added decorations to fold lines. MM printed map for PB review.
6/19/18 - MM fixed Qal contacts and polygons for CSA. MM arranged explanation of map symbols in layout. MM added bold text to References. MM enlarged Correlation, by compressing the diagram and increasing font size, to improve visibility. MM fixed Description of Map Units and added rock boxes. After uploading it from PB email, MM added bottom quad information to quad map. MM then printed map for initial review.
6/18/18 - Under supervision of PB and BP, MM added stereographs, reloaded feature classes for quad and CSA from 6_11_18 folder on T drive. MM constructed Correlation diagram from PowerPoint-turned-jpeg. MM fine-tuning CSA.
6/8/18 - MM arranged the symbols in layout section. MM turned on the diabase, dacite porphyry, MPzgb boulders and vuggy and/or massive quartz float symbols.
6/7/18 - MM completed moving symbols and dip numbers. MM added rock descriptions to layout. MM added Traverse Data View to layout.
6/6/18 - MM continued moving symbols and dip numbers around station locations.
6/5/18 - add something about starting symbols
6/1/18 - MM talked with PB and PB said there were some missing points in the northern part of the map that were missing. MM went to the T drive (T:\NCGS_Transfer\BearCreek\BearCreek_Lib_Cole_Workspace.gdb) to get the Siler_City_2017 point feature class. MM then took the northern missing points from Siler_City_2017 and added them to BearCreek_Points_2018. MM also saved the T drive feature classes into the C drive's BearCreek_DISTRIBUTABLE geodatabase.
5/21/18 - MM created a "Super Draft" of Bear Creek, per PB's request. This involves a basic map with points, polylines and polygons, and each of its .lyr files applied. MM then plotted the map for PB.
4/25/18 - MM received GeoTIFF from PB and darkened and solidified the contours, per PB's suggestion.
