Bunn East quadrangle

Dear Diary – Bunn East

10/16/14 – MM created the BunnEast geodatabase today.  MM brought in all the shapefiles from MIKE’S FOLDER.  MM labellized the symbols and then started moving the dip numbers around the symbols.

10/17/14 – MM finished moving the dip numbers around.  MM realized later that MM should have waited until MM turned this shapefile into a feature class before MM moved the dip numbers.  MM turned all the other shapefiles into feature classes.  The only other one that MM didn’t change yet is the lines composing the symbols.

10/20/14 – MM saved the line file which made up the majority of the symbols into BunnEast_ObservationPoints3.  MM labelled the diabase lines.  MM changed contact lines to concealed where crossing water.  MM started labelling the polygons.

10/21/14 – Finished labelling the polygons.  MM Brought over layout stuff from Bunn West.  Gave the quadrangle some corner coordinates.  Sent PB a pdf of the quadrangle.

10/22/14 – MM completed the rock unit descriptions either by taking it from Bunn West or from the Raleigh 100k descriptions.  MM adjusted the linework and the symbols in the layout.  MM changed what MM could and sent PB a pdf of the map.

10/23/14 – After speaking with Phil, MM realized that MM got to use John Nickerson’s latest coastal plain units for this quad.  So after bringing the shapefile in, MM had to re-label all the coastal plain units.

10/30/14 – MM drew a contact line around a little Qal unit at the bottom of the quad.  MM also drew contact lines for some small coastal plain units at the bottom of the quad.  MM added some additional text labels and just cleaned up the quadrangle.  MM added rock unit descriptions from Edmondson for the three coastal plain units.  MM sent PB a pdf of the quad.

2/16/15 – MM needed to incorporate newfound observation points into Bunn East, in preparation for the Franklin County structural symbols super merge.  The observation points were drawn as lines by GSMCAD and Phil used a Python(?) script to turn those structural symbols into points with the azimuth preserved.  The file was called Observation_points_2015_BunnEast_lines_to_points.  Then MM swept through the quad to put in the dip numbers into the attribute table.  The dip numbers are on the map next to the symbols, just not in the attribute tables.

2/19/15 – MM continued putting dip numbers in the attribute table.

2/22/15 – MM finished putting dip numbers in the attribute table.  MM fixed any blank entries and put attributes in the Label column and the Symbol column.  MM brought in the Skip99 file, which had 11 additional points to be put in the quadrangle.  He added these points to the Observation_points_2015_BunnEast_lines_to_points file.  MM then saved these points as BunnEast_ObservationPoints3A.  This file would later be brought into the FranklinCounty GeologicMap.

10/27/15 - MM uploaded latest version of Bunn East map to Google Drive here:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BxSMuI20Ka_kLVVDa1RnYWdEUUE

Franklin County quadrangle

Dear Diary – FranklinCountyGeologicMap

7/5/12 – Began working on the map today.  MM decided to compile a mapview/layout that would have all the geologic files comprising the county.  Then MM would send this to PB and SS, so that they would see the geology that would make up the map.  If they thought some of the geology was outdated, they would let me know.  MM brought in all the shapefiles (and a couple of feature classes) that comprised the Franklin County area.  The two quads at the top, Vicksboro and Afton, did not have geology and were left blank.  MM made pdf’s of the county (with and without a grid) and emailed them to PB and SS.

7/6/12 – MM created the geodatabase and used the earlier shapefiles to create the feature classes.  MM brought in the layer files, created a new column “MapUnit”, saved the ROCKUNIT values to this column, then brought in the layer files again, this time using MapUnit as the new value, so that the RGB values got transferred.  MM also put in LatLong coordinates for the map.  MM then saved the folder in the G:.  MM also downloaded files that PB sent me for Franklinton, Kittrell, Grissom and Wilton.

3/20/13 – MM have completed edits for these four quads and sent them to PB and SS for their assessments.  MM re-added the polygons for Rolesville, since they didn’t turn up when MM opened the .mxd.

3/22/13 – MM shrunk each polygon’s .lyr so that it has only units that are in the feature class.  MM loaded the contact lines for most of the quadrangles.

11/18/14 – MM just got back to this, since PB wanted me to find out what we had for Franklin County.  The connections had been dislodged, so MM had to Repaired Data Source for a lot of files.  Once that was finished, MM had to continue to complete the files for the county.  MM still have to figure out why some files got brought in and some files got brought into the FranklinCounty folder as feature classes instead of keeping them in their respective folders.

11/19/14 – MM put in the remaining polylines and polygons to complete the county and to restore the map to how it used to be.  MM then sent PB two pdf’s of the county – one with a grid (sometimes_you_feel_like_a_nut) and one without (sometimes_you_dont).

12/19/14 – MM tried creating a seamless cropped geo tiff base for Franklin County in Global Mapper, but the yellows and whites of each cropped quadrangle showed up in the new geotiff.  What you have to do in Arc is take out each yellow and white for each quadrangle, then take it all to Global Mapper and try again to create a cropped geotiff.

2/5/15 – MM completed placing structural symbols for all the quadrangles into the Franklin County .mxd.  The next thing to do is to combine all of these feature classes into one giant symbols feature class for the county.  In the last few weeks, MM has added contour lines from the Franklin County GIS website (or DOT-I can’t remember right now), and used Global Mapper to create a seamless basemap with a separate layer each for transportation and hydro.  MM also created the layout, which includes all the linework, rock unit boxes and rock unit descriptions.  The rock unit stuff is preliminary, depending on what PB does with them.  The title, scale bar, disclaimers, NCGS logo and the quadrangle index were also added to the layout.

2/9/15 – MM brought in the new combined Ingleside_OrientationPoints feature class and deleted the other seven shapefiles associated with Ingleside.  MM then listed the quads from NW to SE in the Table of Contents, and then began looking through each attribute table to make sure the tables conform to each other.  The next file to work on is Franklinton_OrientationPoints.

2/10/15 – MM continued looking through attribute tables and making corrections where necessary.  The next file to work on is BunnWest_ObservationPointsCoastalPlain.

2/11/15 – MM finished looking through the attribute tables for the first time.  Will look over the attribute tables a second time today.

2/15/15 (Sunday) – MM looked over the attribute tables twice and added columns to some files and changed the names of columns of others to match the main schema.  MM also added some files to the Table of Contents, because some quadrangles weren’t completely showing all the points available.  MM will either today or tomorrow merged all 26 files into one super file for the observation points.  The total number of entries is 12,990.

2/22/15 (Sunday) – MM brought in BunnEast_ObservationPoints3A (617 additional points).

2/23/15 – Discussed the Skipp99 points from Bunn East with Skip and Phil.  Those are geochem points and should be labelled as such.  The other geochem points in Franklin County should also be labelled in the attribute table.  Do that on 2/24.  Maybe make Diamond 1 or 2? Orange 12?

3/2/15 – MM started by adding 2 columns (Type and Symbol) to the GeoChem Points feature classes to make sure those values are “geochem” and “Diamond 5 Electron Gold (orange) 20” respectively.  MM then began, starting with Wilton, to enhance the feature class attribute tables by adding values to the Symbol column.  PB decided that it would be better to merge all 29 files into one giant ObservationPoints feature class with all the symbols.  MM completed this merging.  MM then started working on ES edgematch issues, starting with Doodles #1.

3/3/15 – MM completed all the edgematch issues with Doodles 1 and sent a report showing the changes to ES and PB.  MM then completed the first of two edits on Doodles 2.

3/4/15 – MM completed the rest of the Doodles2, as well Doodles3 and Doodles4.  MM emailed ES and PB with screenshots that showed the completed edits.  MM then worked on extension of Doodles3, drawing overlay polygons of the facies in the SW portion of the county.

3/5/15 – MM finished drawing the overlay polygons for the facies.  MM symbolized the polygons.  MM tried bringing in the Rolesville diabase points but they wound up in Georgia.  Only when MM also had to bring in the Alton and Vicksboro points did MM realize he had to assign a GCS to the points from Skip’s files.  MM later brought in the Alton and Vicksboro points.

3/6/15 – MM started made corrections to ES revised edits for Doodles3 from email on 3/5/15.  It led to MM bringing in the MapUnitPolys feature classes for Bunn East, Bunn West, Middlesex, Rolesville and Zebulon.  MM has no idea why MM brought in earlier versions of those polygons (maybe they are all in Raleigh 100k?).  MM changed inferred2 lines that border the facies back to their original 1.1.5 50% gray.  MM put in additional diabase (8 points) from ES’s Jd2_funky_otcps_rev.xls file.  MM brought in Alton and Vicksboro point data from 3/5/35 ES files into the FranklinCounty_ObservationPoints_Merged feature class, only after modifying and adding columns to ease with the data merge.  MM is in the process of turning on the Qal for every quadrangle in the county that has the unit.  Then MM will change the names of polygons per ES’s Granites_symbol_changes_table_FranklinCo.docx.

3/9/15 – Changed the location of the MapUnitPolys for Ingleside, Louisburg, Stoddard4 and Zebulon back to their original .mxd’s.  MM had originally saved those into the FranklinCountyGeologicMap folder, but later decided to send them back to their original .mxd’s.  MM then began to change the names of the rock units internally on the attribute tables, per changes from ES.  Brought in latest ES rock unit descriptions into the layout.  MM will start on Justice tomorrow.

3/10/15 – MM changed Czum to CZum in Kittrell.  MM completed making internal polygon changes to the MapUnit’s for MapUnitPolys.  MM will next standardize the MapUnit columns for the MapUnitPolys in preparation for merging them at some point.

3/11/15 – MM had PB in office and answered questions from “Things to do for Franklin County” .doc.  MM began drawing non-Franklin County facies polygons in Rolesville and then will transform those polygons into two-level polygon symbols.

3/12/15 – MM has been making two-level symbolized polygons for the facies.  MM needs to draw Lassiter polygon next.  PB sent him an example of the linework for the polygon.

3/13/15 – MM completed the Lassiter facies.  MM added the structural symbols, but could not add the layer file because “The imported layer is in an invalid format.”  MM added the Quarries_Mines_Prospects_Franklin file, but the same error message prevented the layer from loading correctly.  MM edited the symbols compilation attribute tables because there was a flaw in the SM_CODE column. There were 0,1 and 2.  Should only have been 1 and 2.  Also changed SM 1 to 2 for many points, especially in Louisburg.  MM brought in the stereoscopes and Domain map.  There is something wrong with the layout, because there is something squirrelly with the Franklin County geology Data Frame in the layout.  It goes beyond the layout into the upper left corner.  PB saved stereoscopes and domain map as one png and MM brought it into the layout.

3/14/15 (Saturday) – MM opened the layout and the squirrely thing went away.  Everything is normal, for now.  MM moved the png to SE of Franklin County.  Moved index of county to NW corner of layout.  MM began sweep of county to make sure the structural symbols are being represented properly (i.e. no false multiples, when only a single is necessary).  MM arranged the symbols around the center point for aesthetics and also went back to the original point files to bring in the foliation, if an arrow was by itself. (only did this twice-the three or four others were just deleted)  MM enlarged the fault line symbol in Grissom.  In preparation for merging all polygon files together, MM will make sure each file has a Quadrangle column and a MapUnit column.  Use Wilton MapUnitPolys.lyr when everything is combined.  That has the most polygons with symbols.

3/16/15 – MM combined all the MapUnitPolys into one file – FranklinCounty_MapUnitPolys.  MM then clipped this layer to the Franklin County polygon.  MM then symbolized this with Stoddard4, not Wilton, because it would cover more polygons in the map.  MM completed the symbolization of the polygons for MapUnitPolys.  MM then auto-labelled the polygons.

3/17/15 – MM added the names of the symbols to the “Label” portion of the Layer Properties window for FranklinCounty_ObservationPointsCompilation feature class.  MM then Inserted the symbols into the layout and made it look good.  MM brought in the lines, and with PB’s help, made that look good.  MM checked or fixed items around the layout.  MM made the rock unit descriptions fit in the printed area.  There wasn’t time to put the colored boxes next to the descriptions; we didn’t have time-that will come later.  Once everything was good enough, MM printed out the map (it took a little more than an hour).

3/18/15 – Either today or tomorrow or someday, MM will fix some flaws to the map, including colored rock boxes, proper scale for the symbols on the map, dip numbers, crosshairs, etc…  MM changed the font size on the color rock boxes.  MM also reduced size of boxes to .4 x .2.

3/19/15 – MM deleted old rock boxes and inserted new ones.  MM symbolized the boxes so that they are smaller and the text still fits.

3/24/15 – MM finished arranging the colored rock boxes.  MM emailed ES that there are about 8 or 9 rock unit names with colored boxes, but no rock unit descriptions.  MM will email him screen shots of the rock units in question and whether they are in the county or not, in the next couple of days.

3/25/15 – MM emailed ES screenshots of the rock units that were not listed in the rock unit descriptions that ES gave to MM.  MM also printed out a copy of the Franklin County geologic map and it is on the wall in the hallway.

3/27/15 – ES sent MM an email with a response to the non-rock-unit-descriptions.  Most of the rock units will be renamed to existing rock unit names.  MM created a new county index tif image (so the geographic coordinates won’t interfere with the GeoPDF) and placed it in the layout.  MM removed “Structural_symbols_Franklin_for_compilation” because the new feature “Analyze Map” said this “Layer’s data source doesn’t have a spatial index”, which apparently is important to Arc, plus this layer has been superseded by “FranklinCounty_ObservationPointsCompilation”.

3/30/15 – After looking at Analy                ze map, MM copied the one entry of “Age_date_location_Franklin” to “FranklinCounty_ObservationPointsCompilation” and then deleted Age_date…  After looking at Analyze Map again, MM can live with the errors.  MM then saved the quadrangle index as a tif image and put it on the layout, so this data frame wouldn’t interfere with the GeoPDF.  MM needs to change the rock unit names.

3/31/15 – MM changed the rock units per ES changes.  MM brought in rock descriptions for the layout for CZhg, CZrl, p, PzZgg.  MM changed the color symbol for p from purple to a pink with + signs in it.  MM started arranging the external rock unit labels in a sweep.

4/13/15 – MM continued the sweep.

4/14/15 – MM finished the sweep.

4/16/15 – MM continued adding the rock unit descriptions to the layout.  The description box had reached its maximum, so another box was added.  After the text was added, the text will need to be bolded for the rock unit name.  The rock boxes will also have to have a frame.

4/17/15 – MM started putting frames around the colored rock boxes in the layout.  MM made the Jd2 lines visible in Kittrell, Franklinton and Rolesville .mxd’s, which automatically made them visible in the Franklin County geologic map.  This started after realizing the rock descriptions in the layout had a Jd2, but no lines in the Data View.

4/25/15 (Saturday) – MM put the rock unit descriptions in the attribute table.

4/27/15 – MM put the rock units descriptions that were not listed in the main description list into the attribute table.

4/29/15 – MM made edits to the layout.

4/30/15 – MM had a tough time with the Annotation to the ObservationPointsCompilation layer.  MM tried to correct the Compilation file in the Incline column, and that did work, but it did not get translated to the Annotation layer.  MM tried saving the Compilation as another feature class, but Arc wouldn’t create annotations for it.  So MM went back to the original Compilation file and decided to work with it.  MM started arranging the dip numbers around the symbol.

5/1/15 – MM continued moving dip numbers.

5/15-5/19/15 – MM finished moving dip numbers.  MM noticed Qal anomalies on Bunn West in BW_MapUnit_Polys_Final.  MM noticed that the patterned polygons for Bunn East, Bunn West, Middlesex and Zebulon need to have their Qal polygons copied and pasted to the OverlayPolys feature classes for each quadrangle.  Then they need to be merged with those adjoining polygons.  This will lessen the problem of lines overwriting each other.  Then delete the BE, BW, MX, ZE polygons.  MM has not figured out yet how to use the granitoid polygons to clip out the Qal polygons.

5/20-5/21/15 – MM worked on the text of layout, using ES’s email from 5/12/15 as a guide, took the overprint-stippling patterns on the granite polygons from 50% to 20%, labelled the Jd and Jd2 lines, put symbols on the fold lines, adjusted the color rock boxes on the layout, standardized the length of lines in layout and started to label Qal polygons.

5/22/15 – MM finished labelling the Qal polygons and, per ES’s 5/11/15, drew the linework and polygons for the northernmost part of the county.  MM then printed out a pdf for ES and PB.

7/23/15 – MM made and completed edits from ES 052215 comments on a pdf.  MM also began to make edits from ES 052715 comments from Microsoft Word.  MM changed pegmatites from polygons to Ginger Pink plus symbols.  MM will add pegmatite symbol to layout next to pavement outcrop.

7/28/15 – MM finished all ES Word 052715 edits, except for number 6.  Awaiting instructions on that one.

7/29/15 – MM figured out where line was and thickened it.  Then MM printed out the map.

8/10/15 – ES wanted the text for the unit descriptions from the map.  So I sent him the Franklin_County_Unit_Descriptions_3_6_15.doc

8/11/15 – ES sent an email with edits and modifications to the rock unit descriptions.  MM made most of the 6 edits and all but the last two of the edits to the rock unit descriptions.    MM merged the gray Tpfms polygons from Middlesex and Zebulon with the polygons from Bunn East, in order to take out the black lines showing the quad boundaries.  MM then sent ES back the text from the layout for his additional adjustments.

8/12/15 – MM picked up ES’s edited map from CPO.  MM corrected almost all of the edits on the map.  There are a few questions for PB.  PB verified some answers, but will get more from ES.  MM has to merge the Qal layers (hopefully, just like the coastal plain merge).

8/13/15 – MM finshed merging of Qal and then printed the map.

8/20/15 – MM added back the Stoddard/Fuemmeler addition to Other References section that was taken out earlier.

9/5/15 (Saturday) – MM started correcting edits from KBT.  Numbers 1,2,3, 8, 9 need help from PB.  MM corrected number 4, 5, 6, 10 and 11.  MM moved the N arrow.  MM put the correct designation for the map in the upper right portion of the map.  MM added three 1:24,000 scale inset maps (BunnEast, Franklinton, Stoddard4) to be used for a representative map of the data density.  Along with some text description.  PB or KBT will determine which density map goes on the layout.

9/17/15 – MM merged all the lines for the quadrangles into FranklinCounty_ContactsAndFaults.  Depending on how things go, MM might create an OtherLines feature class.

9/21/15 – MM added the lines from the cpu and Qal polygons for Bunn East, Bunn West, Middlesex and Zebulon, by converting the polygons into polylines and then copying and pasting the polylines into FranklinCounty_ContactsAndFaults.  Tomorrow, MM will create an .mxd that thins out the herd and leaves just the important things in the .mxd.

9/22/15 – MM saved the .mxd as FranklinCountyGeologicMap_092215.mxd.  Then MM started removing feature classes that were not being used.  MM merged OverlayPolys feature classes together, created an OverlayPolys2 feature class, then added the two shapefiles for mines and prospects to the FranklinCounty_ObservationPointsCompilation feature class.  MM changed the other DataViews so that they are also in the same geodatabase.  Tomorrow, MM will put the images in the same folder with the geodatabase, so that the folder itself should be portable.

9/23/15 – MM created a DISTRIBUTABLE and PRODUCTION folder and put everything that was in the FranklinCountyGeologicMap folder into the appropriate folders.  MM sent PB a detached copy on the T drive and the .mxd would open, then crash Arc.  PB was able to open various feature classes and their .lyr’s.  MM will now merge all the polygon files and the coastal plain polygons into feature classes.

9/24/15 – MM merged a couple of polygons in the south side of the county.  Tomorrow, MM needs to deal with overlapping polygons.

9/25/15 – MM merged many polygons together.  MM is ready to try topology on MapUnitPolys feature class.  MM has loaded the topology for the polygons and will correct it on Monday.

9/28/15 – MM loaded topology and tried to correct the errors that topology indicated.  The polygon PPcga was offset and MM had to manually sew the nodes back together again with the adjacent polygons.  MM also corrected other errors.

9/29/15 – MM adjusted some errors with topology.

9/30/15 (at home) – MM finished correcting errors with topology for MapUnitPolys.  MM also added topology for ContactsAndFaults and OverlayPolys.  MM trying to get Qal contacts fixed, so that the polygons are continuous, without lines going through where Qal polygons got merged.  MM merged the nodes where the Qal contacts changed quadrangles.

10/1/15 (at home) – MM verified more Qal polygons and contacts.  MM eliminated many overlapping Qal polygons.  Once that was finished, MM started eliminating overlapping cpu polygons.  Tomorrow, MM will merge those polygons together.  Also, MM might clip everything to Franklin County itself, so the herd shall be thinned and there will be no excess.

10/2/15 – MM did clip feature classes to Franklin County and corrected more topology, especially for the coastal plain.

10/12/15 – MM saved bedrock_polygons, bedrock_polylines for Franklin County.  MM created a ForFranklinCounty.mxd and brought in these two feature classes.  MM then spliced the diabase away from the bedrock_polylines to make diabase_dike for Franklin County.  MM created topology for all three feature classes and corrected all the mistakes.  MM also saved layer files for all three feature classes.  MM saved this into a new feature dataset – ForFranklinCounty in the Franklin folder in C:MMFolder/AGOL.  They are ready for PB to give to Franklin County.

10/23/15 – MM has a new/different computer and when MM went into FranklinCounty.mxd, MM realized that all the symbols had been turned into wingding symbols.  After PB helped correct the problem, MM spent a good chunk of the day fixing the symbols and turning them back into FGDC symbols.  MM then printed a copy of the map and left it on the front table.

10/26/15 – MM realized that the new computer didn’t pick up all the symbols that the previous computer had.  Therefore, MM had to backtrack and re-select ALL symbols from the FGDC suite of symbols, instead of wingdings.  MM double-checked to make sure everything was back the way it was before the computer change.  MM also noticed things that needed to be fixed and put big red dots next to them, so that they could get fixed tomorrow.

10/27/15 – MM corrected line issues that were pointed out by red dots.  MM checked the map again to make sure the symbols were correctly drawn.  MM also labelled some Qal polygons.  Transferred Dear Diary entries into blog entries on Blogger. (http://mapstatusncgs.blogspot.com/)

11/6/15 - MM uploaded latest version of Franklin County map to Google Drive:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BxSMuI20Ka_kU0lxNW9TZThUeTQ

11/19/2015 - OFR number 2015-07 added to map.  GeoPDF posted to DENR Portal at: http://portal.ncdenr.org/c/document_library/get_file?uuid=8e041c56-58f6-40cf-ac13-f578ab393586&groupId=38334

11/19/15 – MM made more corrections – adding Lake Royale to the Inset Map, to the description below this map, and then on the Lake itself on the full map.  MM then put this map for sale at the Online Store.  MM also tried to put it on the Portal page, but there were error messages when MM tried to upload it.  MM was unable to save it to T drive, because MM couldn’t see T drive.
11/20/15 – MM can see T drive and saved the map there.  MM also saw that the map was saved to the Portal page.
11/24/15 – Gave PB latest versions of polylines, polygons and diabase – For Franklin County geodatabase in T drive.
12/8/15 - MM uploaded latest version of Franklin County map to Google Drive:

Apex Quadrangle

Dear Diary – Apex
10/3/16 - After PB, KBT and MM noticed mistakes on the map, MM made five corrections to the map, per KBT, and the map was re-released to the public.

1/21/16 - MM saved final pdf (NCGS_OFR_2016-03_Apex_QR) in Portal Document Library (http://portal.ncdenr.org/c/document_library/get_file?p_l_id=1169848&folderId=15250710&name=DLFE-121689.pdf).  MM placed the Apex map in the Online Store for sale (
http://nc-maps.stores.yahoo.net/ncgsopen.html).

1/20/16 - MM made final corrections from KBT and MM.  Printed out map.  Emailed ES and TC the pdf.  ES said to add Kevin Miller as the fourth author.  MM will print 7 copies of map for Science Olympiad for ES and RB.

1/6/16 - MM made corrections per edits from KBT.  Will wait until 1/8 to discuss with PB.

11/25/14 – MM made the corrections (including small modifications to the text block in the layout, small changes in the symbols area and shrinking the text in the CSA) and then sent PB a pdf copy of the map.

11/24/14 – MM merged the coastal plain polygons into one feature class, “Apex_OverlayPolys”.  MM did the same for the cross section.  MM also changed the external labels on the rock units for the quad and CSA.  For the quad, MM also had to merge the polygons in the proper order, so that one coastal plain polygon didn’t cover another.  Then MM printed a paper copy to check the map.

11/21/14 – MM finished the sweep.  MM merged the two linetype feature classes.  MM then saved the Cross_Section_line to the merged Apex_ContactsAndFaults.  MM will try merging the coastal plain units and change the name of Tp1 to the new name from examples of the other quads done earlier.

11/20/14 – MM started a project to standardize the Raleigh 100k geodatabases into the DISTRIBUTABLE/PRODUCTION folders style.  MM created the two folders in the Apex folder and MM transferred the connection to the .mxd from C:\MMFolder\Statemap_Raleigh_100k\Files_for_Mike\Apex  to  C:\MMFolder\Statemap_Raleigh_100k\Apex\Apex_DISTRIBUTABLE.  MM then moved all the clutter in the Apex folder to the PRODUCTION folder.  MM then reestablished the links for the stereonets and diagram.  Then MM merged the points feature classes into one, Apex_ObservationPoints.  MM then started a sweep of the quad to make sure the sizes and styles of the rock unit label and dip numbers follow the FGDC standard.

Fayetteville 100k layout

Dear Diary - Fayetteville 100k layout 5/14/24 - Began the Fayetteville 100k layout project. Created the main 100k map, as well as 2 logos, ...
